Barbados facts:
* Barbados is a coral island, the most expensive commodity is soil.
* The island is 21 miles long and 14 miles wide, the ABC highway runs the whole length of the island.
* Population is 280,000, most reside in Bridgetown.
* It has only 62 miles of coastline. (600 in Bulgaria)
* The Lowest temperature recorded in Barbados is 17 degrees which was at night.
* Tourism took off in the 1960's and has since become extremely established with tourism. If you ask someone to name an island in the Caribbean, most will name Barbados.
* The high season is Mid October to March; it is not as busy April May or June.
* Concorde used to fly once a day in the winter and twice a week in the summer, this denotes the type of people who stay there.
* There are currently only three, 5* hotels on the island: Sandy Lane, Royal Westmorland and the Fairmont it is unionized and its difficult to get 5* classifications.
* The West coast is the most expensive place to stay. The south cost has more hotels for families. The Turtle Beach is a 4* family hotel, this will cost £512 a night in August and the room is smaller than Merricks studios.
*The Royal Westmoreland is on the West Coast, as well as being a hotel they sell properties on the resort, Gary Linear and Ian Woosnam own property there.
*Sugar Hill is a residential development; it is a mile from the beach and has a road between the two. Cliff Richard owns a property there worth 6 million.
*The Four Seasons sell property on the West Coast starting from 3.2 million pounds.
*Getting on to the East coast, Edie Grant owns a property there worth 15 million.
*Merricks is around 10 minutes from The Crane which is the oldest Hotel in Barbados it was built in 1887. We use this as a comparable, it is classified as a 4* however as it is on the same piece of coast it is the best place to use.
* The crane sell timeshare at $25,000 a week.
* The crane sell property starting at $772,000 for a studio which is unfurnished and has no rental guarantees.
